In the human resource report two motions were carried, one for the human resource matters and the other for the superintendent’s contract extension. Also in this section of the agenda there were 2 action items, the approval of Board Policy JR and the Burwell FY16 Budget. This program was purchased with title one funds and the program itself acts as a game that students play, all the while learning in the process. The second report was an in depth review of iRead, a new program some of the schools have enacted to teach reading to K1, K2, and first grade students. The report detailed some of the processes which will be used to select certain courses and grades for the higher learning classes over the next few years. The first presentation was the scheduling courses for gifted and high achieving middle school students. This section had two lengthy information items. The real depth of the meeting came in the curriculum and instruction report. This tax abatement will start in 2017 and continue until 2026. They will be adding 243 new jobs in Troup County. This memorandum will give Jindal a tax abatement. They are going to invest an estimated $205 million. They will also be bringing their Corporate Headquarters to LaGrange. Jindal is working on a new project with a new facility and equipment. This agreement was the Memorandum of Understanding between the Development Authority of LaGrange and Jindal Films. The motion carried.Īlso in this section was the Jindal Films Agreement, a motion which also carried with the school board. The superintendent’s report had two action items, the first of which was the approval of the 2016-2017 school calendar. The agenda was a long one this night and after the invocation from Hillcrest Elementary School and the recognition of local honor students, the minutes from the previous meeting were approved, there was motion carried on the out of state athletic and academic competitions and field trips, then the meeting really kicked off.
